Tameside residents will be caught up in the festive spirit this weekend as the Christmas celebrations in the borough continue with the popular lantern parade.
The Tameside Christmas Celebration event is being held in Victoria Park, Denton, on Saturday 8 December from 6pm-7.30pm and is one of the highlights of this year’s offerings.
It features the much loved annual lantern parade and will also celebrate the local hatting industry, which has historic ties to the town dating back to the industrial revolution. This year promises to be especially beautiful as the whole of Victoria park will be lit up for the event.
This borough-wide Christmas celebration is an excellent ending to all the festive community and business led events that have taken place across the Tameside towns since mid-November.
After a successful bid for Arts Council England funding, Tameside Council Cultural Services is again working with Ashton based and internationally respected arts organisation Global Grooves on the lantern parade.
There are additional community led Christmas events in Denton Civic Square over the weekend from Friday to Sunday. This includes a festive market selling hot food, a bar and children’s fun fair rides.
