KATHY ROE, director of finance for NHS Tameside and Glossop Clinical Commissioning Group and Tameside Council, was named Finance Director of the Year at the Healthcare Financial Management Association Awards.
Her success is testament not only to her own exceptional abilities and leadership, but also to the pioneering work that has made Tameside and Glossop a national leader in developing a community-based person-centred approach through the integration of council and NHS services.
Kathy is described as an integration trailblazer and someone who leads from the front.
The awards judge organisations, teams and individual finance professionals by looking at elements including fiscal success, governance, innovation, people management, communications, ethics, sustainability and learning.
Kathy said: “I am very proud and delighted to have won this prestigious award for which there were so many excellent entrants.
“However, I have to stress that this success is not purely down to me. Much of the credit has to go to the amazing work done by the finance team I lead, and to wider colleagues.”
HFMA’s chief executive, Mark Knight, said: “This year saw a record-breaking number of nominations.
“The quality was extremely high and to win was a huge achievement. With the current financial and operational pressures being faced across the NHS, to be an industry leader takes dedication, outstanding leadership and commitment.”
“Kathy’s success is well deserved and testament to the strength and quality of all NHS finance managers.”
