Hyde welcomes monthly support network

Date Released - 29/09/2023

Hyde is gearing up for a series of community initiatives designed to bolster local wellbeing and support which anyone can attend.

In a move to enhance community wellbeing, Tameside Council has partnered with multiple organisations to launch the Community Support & Inspire Network. This initiative aims to strengthen local connections and support residents.

Kicking off on Wednesday 4 October from 10am – 2pm in Clarendon Shopping Centre, monthly events will be held to provide vital support and information to the Hyde community, with different themes each month.

The core objective of the network is to showcase the wide array of wellbeing and support initiatives available across the borough while fostering robust local connections among residents.

In a precursor to the official launch, a dynamic event took place at the Clarendon Centre in Hyde town centre in September led by Mentell, a leading mental health charity. Various stalls highlighted activities and services contributing to mental health support.

The upcoming October event will focus on community safety and will feature information stalls covering various topics such as Neighbourhood Watch, Litter Hubs, road safety, and more.

On 1 November, the network will be hosting stalls from Mentell, Ingeus, Kooth and the Grafton Centre amongst others.

Cllr Ged Cooney, Tameside Council Executive Leader, said: "This initiative not only spotlights the exceptional contributions of local organisations but also provides an open space for residents to connect, learn, and seek help when needed. Together, we can genuinely support our community by fostering a culture of collaboration."

The Community Support & Inspire Network will run from October to February, with aspirations to expand its reach to other town centres in the future.
