Think Green and join The Great British Spring Clean

Date Released - 15/03/2024

RESIDENTS are being encouraged to get involved with The Great British Spring Clean and make the pledge to keep their communities tidy.

From 15 March until 31 March, everyone who is involved with The Great British Spring Clean is aiming to eliminate litter, end waste and improve places.

By cleaning Our Streets, residents are caring for the environment by thinking green and tackling litter in their communities.

Our Streets is an ongoing initiative that aims to bring Tameside Council, partner organisations, businesses and residents together to create a greener, cleaner, safer borough.

Residents can get involved in activities such as Litter hubs, to contribute to cleaner streets in the area.

There are free Litter Hubs which are based in local community spaces across the towns in the borough. Individuals or groups can book free equipment via a local hub, including hi-vis jackets, litter pickers and black bags.

Tameside Council Executive Member for Climate Emergency & Environmental Services Cllr Denise Ward said: “The council works with local people on numerous action days to tackle litter and the Great British Spring Clean is a great opportunity for more people to get involved. By coming together as a community we can make our streets cleaner for everyone.

“It’s also another way that everyone can Think Green to help our environment where we can.”
